…to speak nothing of the bad editing. This book would be a nice intro to the fashion world for a teenager that doesn’t understand the differences between various careers in fashion. Apart from that, there isn’t a lot of “meat” to speak of. Most of the profile bios are a bit bland. Kudos to the author, though, for not dwelling on only famous names — most of those interviewed are the in-the-ranks designers, patternmakers, merchandisers, etc.

I found the bad editing distracting. Just a few examples:

    - The first designer interviewed was alternatively credited as “Kerri Anne” and “Kerri Ann”. Stick to one!
    - A Web site where part of the address (“necessities”) was misspelled
    - Annoying misspellings/misuse of words, like “perimeters” for “parameters”, “verses” for “versus”, etc.
    - Runon & nonsensical sentences

My niece and I selected this book for her home schooled course in Fashion. She is a high school senior and considering a career in fashion. This book has a readable style and is full of useful information about the nuances of the various careers in fashion. She’s finding it very helpful in narrowing down her particular interests. A tremdously useful book for anyone interested in developing a career in the fashion industry.

I have been considering a career in fashion and not knowing anything about the different fields in fashion I found this book helpful, but that was it. It provided descriptions of different jobs in fashion with brief interviews of people either currently or previously in a certain position. The book was more factual than anything else.
